What the calculator computes
The calculation splits into five independent modules based on the Chrzanowska system:
- Psychological Portrait — 11 positions of the Major Arcana: character across life periods, the subconscious, mission and gifts.
- Karmic Portrait — 8 positions: what a person brings from past experience, the karmic task and how to work through it.
- The 21 Programs — an analysis of all base life programs with an activity detector: from background noise to life-defining.
- Partner Composite — compatibility of two birth dates across 9 relationship positions and the couple's shared cards.
- Day Vibration — the energy of a specific day: common for everyone and individual for each person.
How the tarot calculation works
In the Chrzanowska system, the tarot birth date calculation rests on the 22 Major Arcana — the cards from the Magician (I) to the Fool (XXII). The day, the month and the digit sum of the year are independently converted into an Arcanum number. If the result exceeds 22, 22 is subtracted — modulo-arcanum arithmetic.
From these three base numbers, the remaining Portrait positions are derived by fixed formulas. For example, "Subconscious" = day + month, "Superconsciousness" = subconscious + consciousness, "Psychic Harmony" = their sum. The method is fully deterministic: the same date always yields the same result — it is arithmetic, not divination.
The calculator implements the formulas of Alla Chrzanowska — a modern school of psychological tarot that gave the classical arcana a psychodiagnostic rather than divinatory meaning.
What is a birth arcanum
A birth arcanum is the specific Major Arcana card that corresponds to a birth date. There are 22 such cards: from I (the Magician) to XXII (the Fool, also known as 0 in modern numerology). Each describes one archetypal energy: the Magician — will and beginnings, the Empress — abundance, the Tower — crisis and transformation.
In the Chrzanowska system a person has not one but three birth arcana: the day arcanum (youth, until ~29), the month arcanum (maturity, 29–49) and the year arcanum (deep roots, after ~49). Together they form the frame of the Psychological Portrait — from them the 11 main and 8 karmic positions are derived, completing the picture of character and life tasks.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate tarot by birth date?
The calculation is simple arithmetic: the day, the month and the digit sum of the year are reduced to Major Arcana numbers (1–22). From these three numbers, the 11 positions of the Psychological Portrait are derived using the formulas of the Chrzanowska system. The calculator does every step automatically — enter a date and see the result.
What are the birth arcanum and the destiny arcanum?
A birth arcanum is the Major Arcana card corresponding to a birth date. The Chrzanowska system uses three: the day arcanum (character until 29), the month arcanum (the mature period, 29–49) and the year arcanum (deep nature, after 49). Together these three form the "destiny arcanum" — the overall program of the personality.
Can tarot cards show partner compatibility?
Yes. Enter two birth dates — the calculator builds the Partner Composite: nine positions describing how the relationship begins, develops, its main challenges and the couple's task. It also highlights the cards both partners share and the signals of a common mission.
Is the tarot calculator fortune-telling?
No. The calculation is deterministic: the same date always produces the same arcana. It is arithmetic, not prediction. Interpreting the result is the separate work of a tarot reader or analytical psychologist.
Do I have to pay or sign up?
No. The calculator is free and works without registration. No data is stored on a server — the state lives only in your browser's address bar, so you can share the result as a link.
What system is the calculation based on?
It uses the methodology of Alla Chrzanowska — a modern school of psychological tarot. The formulas (Psychological and Karmic Portrait, the 21 Programs, the Composite, the Day Vibration) are documented in her books. The calculator is covered by unit tests against reference examples from those books.
